Tyson & Jennifer Voigt

Tyson and Jennifer Voigt have been involved in worship ministry for over 10 years. Both were trained in classical styles from a young age, but in worship, they love contemporary and traditional styles of music alike. They met each other as undergraduate students studying Music Education at Baylor University. After their Master’s degrees at Baylor and Texas State, and marrying in 2011, they received their Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the University of Miami in Florida. Tyson then won a position with a young professionals’ orchestra called The Orchestra Now in New York State. In 2017, Jennifer joined the music faculty at Odessa College teaching Applied Voice lessons and Vocal Diction courses. Since then, the couple became members and joined the contemporary worship team at First United Methodist Church Odessa. Tyson joined the faculty at the University of Texas Permian Basin as Director of Percussion Studies and Adjunct Professor of Music History and Music Technology. The Voigts also have a classical duo together, the Resound Duo, which commissions new works from composers around the world for soprano and percussion, often including spiritual themes.

In 2019, they were honored to assume the role of Worship Leaders at First United Methodist Odessa, using their musical gifts to serve God, their church, and the community. Tyson and Jennifer love spending time at home with their daughter, Gwendolyn Anneliese Voigt, born in Odessa in 2018, and their dog Brady. Gwen is full of joy, rarely sleeps, and loves music!
